Meet Rhiannon - From LA to Tokyo To The Bay

I originally launched LAtoTokyo in 2016 to document my travel adventures. As I described myself on the original version of the site:

"LA girl in the Bay Area. I was on the side of the road in a mountain town, trying to find wifi for an international Skype call, when I realized I might qualify as a digital nomad... so starting a blog was the logical next step."

This new version of LAtoTokyo is a relaunch, although you can still find a lot of my original content here.

I've been living in San Francisco for over five years now, and my life has changed quite a bit since I first decided to start a travel blog. I'm not sure I'd still describe myself as a "digital nomad," but I do spend 2-3 months out of the country each year while working remotely, with frequent trips across California in between. My favorite destinations are Iceland, Croatia, and of course, Japan.

In fact, I had the opportunity to live and work in Japan in 2017, helping develop software for the Ritz-Carlton and Grand Hyatt hotels during the sakura full bloom.

If you're here, it might be because of my book, The Remote Work Era: The Guide for Women to Go Remote & Thrive! I published The Remote Work Era at the end of 2020 after almost a year of isolation at home with my partner, brother, and our two cats. The book tells my story of going from a high school dropout to starting my own company and traveling the world. Despite the COVID pandemic interrupting my travels, writing The Remote Work Era turned out to be one of the best adventures of my life. Now I can't wait to get back on the road and share copies with new friends all over the world! :) 

I also run a digital agency, Sea Foam Media & Technology, which provides editorial, design, and product development services to tech startups.
